@ Ruthless Grip
The Fall 2005 DCPoetry season continues this Saturday, November 12, 7:30 pm at Washington Printmakers Gallery (1732 Connecticut Ave, second floor, between R and S Streets, several blocks north of the Dupont Circle Q Street Metro exit). This month the Ruthless Grip Poetry Series features poetry in and of performance by Thalia Field, Jamie Jewett and Jessica Smith.

THALIA FIELD has published two collections of writing, _Point and Line_ and _Incarnate: Story Material_ (New Directions, 2000 and 2004 respectively), and has a forthcoming book from Coffee House Press, _Ululu (Clown Shrapnel)_. Her work has appeared in journals including Fence, Chain, Chicago Review, Ploughshares and Conjunctions, where she served as a senior editor in the late 90's, guest-editing an issue on experimental music-theater in 1998. Thalia's theatrical work has been published in Theater magazine and performed at venues in New York and elsewhere.

JAMIE JEWETT has his MFA in choreography and technology from the Ohio State University and is getting his PhD in Performance and New Media from Brown. His company, Lostwax (<http://www.lostwax.org>) has recently performed in Boston (Greenstreet Studios) and New York (Danspace at St Marks).

Originally from Alabama, JESSICA SMITH recently extricated herself from the cold of Buffalo, where she spent 7 years in the Poetics Program. While at Buffalo she founded the poetry magazine _name_ and wrote the chapbook _birdbook_. Now a PhD student in English at the University of Virginia, Jessica has recently completed a manuscript, _Organic Furniture Cellar_. Excerpts can be found on her website, <http://www.buffalo.edu/~jss13>. Recent work can also be read in Ferrum Wheel, Filling Station, and Drill. Among other possible futures, Jessica, with Linda Russo, is starting a press for women's poetry.

Ruthless Grip readings have a $3 cover on a sliding scale for anyone who really needs to slide by: proceeds go to the space and the readers.

Hope to see you there!
