Semezdin Mehmedinovic & Kaia Sand
@ Ruthless Grip
Please join us February 9th at 8 PM for a reading by Semezdin Mehmedinovic & Kaia Sand.

Born in Bosnia, Semezdin Mehmedinovic is the author of five books, including SARAJEVO BLUES, his evocative depiction of Bosnia under siege, "widely considered... the best piece of writing" from Bosnia since the war (Washington Post). His new book, NINE ALEXANDRIAS, offers an incisive look at the post 9/11 American empire, and particularly Washington, where he now works as a producer for Voice of America.

Kaia Sand is the author of INTERVAL (Edge Books 2004), selected as a Small Press Traffic Book of the Year 2004, as well as the chapbooks heart on a tripod and tiny arctic ice, and wee book lotto (all from Dusie Press). With Jules Boykoff, she co-authored the book LANDSCAPES OF DISSENT: GUERILLA POETRY & PUBLIC SPACE, due out this spring with Palm Press, and she has a chapbook forthcoming with Tinfish Press.  Her poetry was recently published in  McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, Columbia Poetry Review, Eyes Monthly, Tool: A Magazine, and Ixnay Reader. She co-edits the Tangent, based in Portland, Oregon. More of her work can be found at Archive of the Now
