forgiveness

forgiveness is a tarn, a dipped hand chilled in the flecked, spring-fed
mouth
forgiveness is a tongue, sediments of magnesium greying on its barked rim
forgiveness waits over the brow of the hill, a brown-wheeled barn, its
swirling/
hay hoist gibbeting light A cockrel russets on the gable; forget-me-nots
root/
baseboards to choked soil A barn rears at the wind The wind breathes/
horses The door hinge slivers with yellow machine oil
and planks caulked/
with dusk arc into the night's throat On the floor, broken stems and
fresh chaff, the nailed/
figure of a workboot's sole
forgiveness is the estuary's reed bed, remote dead gold burning the naked
tree
